Jim Bentley has been appointed as the new manager of Morecambe Football Club, returning for a second spell in charge at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.
Bentley replaces Ashvir Singh Johal, who left the club to mutual consent on Friday, on a deal until the end of the season.
Morecambe are now seven points from safety inside the National League relegation zone following the weekend results in the division, with 18 games of the campaign remaining.
A club legend, the 49-year-old played more than 300 times for the Shrimps, including captaining the club when Morecambe won promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history in 2007.
In May 2011 he replaced Sammy McIlroy as manager, and was boss of the Shrimps in League 2 until he left to join AFC Fylde in October 2019, which paved the way for the appointment of Derek Adams.
Bentley has also has a spell managing Rochdale, and his most recent tenure was at National League North side Southport, a role he vacated in March 2025.

Speaking after his appointment, Bentley said: "When I was asked to come back as manager, I was excited. I've had a couple of calls about other roles, and I didn't feel it.
‘’They've asked me to come back here and I'm more than happy to do that."
Bentley’s first game back in charge is a trip to Altrincham on Tuesday night in the National League.
