The boss of a new wine bar in Lancaster has given his thoughts on opening his business during tough times for the economy.
Patrick Hall said "it's the right time" to open as he prepares to unveil the new Runner Duck Wine Room on King Street.
Named after ducks used to help with pest control on vineyards in South Africa, Runner Duck opens on Friday, September 2 at 4pm.
Mr Hall, who already runs Tipple cocktail bar next door, said he felt the new venture would "fill a niche" in the Lancaster hospitality sector.
LISTEN to Patrick Hall talking about the opening of Runner Duck Wine Room:
Patrick, who came to Lancaster as a student, stayed in the city and has worked in the licensed trade for 15 years, said: "Lancaster is a great place to have a business, we all work together to support each other when we can.
"I would be a liar if I said I wasn't nervous, but that's one of the benefits of keeping something small, our costs are as low as possible.
"This dedicated wine bar hasn't really been done for a long time so I think it's something that's filling a niche.
"I think it's the right time for Lancaster, there's a lot of development in the hospitality sector in Lancaster right now so it's a definite time for growth, even if the economy isn't in the best place it can be."
Runner Duck was originally to be named Kork, but rebranded after discovering another business operating in the wine sector in Whitley Bay of the same name.
The new wine room, serving a selection of wines and cheese, will be open Friday and Saturday this weekend, then from Thursday to Sunday every week.
