The Morecambe Parkrun brings hundreds of people of all ages together on the prom every Saturday for a shared experience of exercise, community and fun. Beyond Radio's GREG LAMBERT took part to find out more about it.
The weekly Morecambe Parkrun took place on Saturday morning in glorious sunshine.
Around 225 people assembled at 9am near The Battery on Morecambe Promenade ready to take on a 5km route along the seafront to Buzz Bingo and back.
Morecambe's weekly community fun run has been going for just over three years and is part of a Parkrun phenomenon all over the world.
Millions of people participate in parkruns across the globe at the same time, 9am, every Saturday.
David Hewitt, one of the team of volunteers who organise the local event, explained why Morecambe Parkrun is so successful:

"Parkrun in Morecambe is a wonderful community event," said David, pictured (left) with Parkrun founder Paul Sinton-Hewitt, who visited Morecambe Parkrun last month.
"It's an inclusive activity for everyone, not just runners.
"Morecambe has many walkers who participate as well.
"Whatever stage you're at with your running, or maybe you just want to come down and support and volunteer, it has something for everyone.
"It's free, it's every Saturday around the country and around the world, at 9am. All we ask is that you just register, and come along and enjoy it.
"We welcome everyone, no matter what your standard. There are people who do it in wheelchairs, people who run pushing their children in buggies, people running with their pet dogs.
"It's a physical and a mental health benefit."
People of all ages love the Parkrun.
Audra Smith, seven, took part in her 25th Parkrun on Saturday.

Anne McHugh, 74, from Heysham, also takes part in Morecambe Parkrun regularly.

A member of Morecambe Community Runners, Anne also enjoys Parkruns when on holiday in other parts of the world, including South Africa.

For Hazel Peters from Morecambe, Saturday was her first ever Parkrun.
Hazel said that taking part in the 'Couch to 5K' programme run by Morecambe Community Runners has got her into running and helped her mental health.

It's very easy to take part in the Morecambe Parkrun.
You simply register at the website here.
You are then sent a barcode which you take with you to the Parkrun. At the finish line, a volunteer scans the barcode, and you are then sent your finishing time and position.
At the website, you can also find information about how to volunteer, and the other Parkruns around the country, including at Williamson Park in Lancaster.
The event does attract serious runners, keen to beat their personal bests.
But Morecambe Parkrun is mainly about fun and enjoyment, exercise and community.
Even world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury got involved in Saturday's Parkrun!
