The man tasked with seeing the Eden Project Morecambe through from construction to opening has given an in-depth update to Beyond Radio.
John Pye was appointed project director on the planned £100m scheme earlier this year and has been described as 'employee number one'.
The Eden Project Morecambe will be a new visitor attraction, to be built on the central Morecambe Promenade from 2026 and due to open in winter 2028.
The facility, with exhibits themed on the natural world and including a 6,000-capacity concert venue, is expected to bring huge visitor numbers to the town and boost the local economy.
"You don't often get many experiences in life to get a job like this which is embedded in the comunity and embedded in major construction projects that I love," said Mr Pye, speaking to Beyond Radio last week.
John Pye is pictured below, with an image of inside the attraction, at a 'Community Conversation' public meeting last Tuesday.

"It's pretty stressful but I think the benefits that Morecambe and the wider region will get out of it, I can sit back after this is complete and really tell my grandchildren how important this has been in a transformational change for a coastal town that really needs support."
In the interview, Mr Pye spoke about:
- The start of ground investigation work at the Eden site
- Plans for the layout of Eden when it opens
- The new concert venue and the impact this could have on the town
- Latest on timescales for construction and opening
- Latest on fundraising for the scheme
- Plans for transport to the site
- Recruiting for new jobs at Eden Project Morecambe
