A 12-year-old girl has been arrested after a teenager was attacked on the cycle track in Morecambe.

Morecambe Area Police said they received a report of an assault on Moss Lane, Morecambe, at around 3:40pm on Monday March 24.

A teenage girl suffered injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged.

A police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing, and a 12-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assault.

The victim's mum, posting on social media, said it was a "premeditated attack" involving a group of four girls while she was walking home from school.

She said the culprits "waited for her on the cycle track" and "kicked her head like a football, they stamped on her face, put her tooth through her lip, they chipped her teeth, damaged her back and neck and she was covered in abrasions and footprints.

"Then if that wasn’t enough they filmed it."

Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 0928 of 24th March.
