The Red Arrows flew over Morecambe Bay on Saturday morning but lines of people on the Promenade were disappointed as they expected them an hour later.
People gathered on Marine Road in Morecambe at the expected time hoping for a glimpse of the popular Royal Air Force (RAF) aerial display team only to learn they had already been and gone.
The Red Arrows were on their way to Scotland for an air show on Saturday afternoon, heading from RAF Scampton in Lincoln to RAF Prestwick near Glasgow.
The time of their flight over Morecambe Bay was expected to be 10.40am.
But people reported seeing them over the Morecambe and Lancaster area at around 9.45am.
Red Arrows flight timings are always subject to change at short notice, due to the weather or other requirements.
The flight over our local area almost didn't happen at all due to a problem with the aircraft ejector seats.
On Friday afternoon, the RAF said: "We have been notified of a technical issue which may affect the safe operation of our ejector seats in Typhoon and RAF Red Arrows aircraft.
"We have paused non-essential flying as a temporary safety precaution until the situation is better understood."
Then on Friday evening, the RAF announced that: "After further detailed technical investigations, the RAF Red Arrows have been cleared to resume activity immediately."
The transit flight over Morecambe Bay had originally been planned for Friday afternoon but was rescheduled for Saturday morning.
A scheduled display by the Red Arrows at Farnborough Air Show on Friday had also been cancelled.
