Crews tackle tractor on fire in Lancaster village

Firefighters were called to deal with a tractor that had caught fire in a village near Lancaster last night.

Crews from Hornby and Bentham stations attended the blaze in Wennington after the alarm was raised just after 10:10pm on Wednesday (June 18).

Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reels and multiple tanks of water to extinguish the fire.

The driver of the tractor had sustained no injuries after his quick thinking meant the tractor was moved off the roadway and into a field.

Crews were in attendance for approximately an hour and 45 minutes before being available for further incidents.
