Residents are calling for recognition for a local hero who has been keeping a public loo in the district spotless for 36 years.
Jackie Hayes has been cleaning the public loos in the car park at Conder Green since 1986. Alongside her husband of 51 years, Barry, they have ensured the toilets are opened and closed each day and that there are always water bowls for dogs.
Lancaster resident Alex Walker, posted on local Fabebook group page Lancaster Past & Present after meeting Jackie and Barry whilst walking to The Stork at Condor Green. Since then there have been well over a hundred comments praising the couple for their commitment. The comments have included:
Just love Barry and Jackie
, they should be recognised for their dedication and hard work ![]()

Alex posted on Facebook as he often wondered who cleaned the toilets in such a remote area. He said in his comments,
"I don't know about you but I think that such service to the community should be recognised in some formal way. Thank you Jackie!"
